The Upcycle Masterclass is the third of five exclusive workshops hosted by Making Fashion Academy leading up to the Northern Threads runway show in May 2026. This hands-on class, led by Amelie Mongrain, a longtime advocate for sustainable fashion with over twenty years of industry experience, focuses on creative circular design. You’ll learn how to rework garments using upcycling techniques, explore visible mending, patchwork, and raw-edge finishes, and discover inventive ways to breathe new life into old clothes.
Continue developing your designs with the skills you gained in class or use your final upcycled piece as part of your application for the Rework & Rewear category of the Northern Threads runway show. With guidance and plenty of space to experiment, this class will help develop a deeper appreciation for sustainable fashion.
